The final report of the Commission entitled “The Quest for Redemption: The Story of the Northern Muslims” was launched at the International Center for Ethnic Studies (ICES) auditorium on the 3rd November 2011.
The commentators at the launch were
1. Manouri Muttetuweegama,Barrister, Attoney- at- Law, a former Commissioner of Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission, and Chair of the Commission of Inquiry into Involuntary Removal/ Disappearance of Persons (All Island 1998- 2000),and
2. Seelan Kadirgamar, human right activist and a former Senior Lecturer in history, university of Jaffna.Views were also expressed by Mr. A.R. Ashar Khan, the representative of the Rural Development Foundation(RDF) Puttalam, which is one of the partner organizations. He addressed the gathering on the objective and the successes of the Citizens’ Commission. Mrs. M. Juwairiya, a
member of the advisory group of the commission commented very favourably on her experience with the commission process. The project staffs are now working on the translation of the report into both Tamil and Sinhala.
